What to expect

Exploring Chenini Village

The first step of the excursion begins with the client pickup, where our friendly guide will greet them at their designated location. Once everyone is on board, we set off on our journey to the charming village of Chenini, known for its rich history, breathtaking landscapes, and the renowned Mosque of the Seven Sleepers. During the visit to Chenini, guests will have the opportunity to explore its traditional architecture, ancient ruins, and immerse themselves in the vibrant local culture, while also admiring the beautiful Mosque of the Seven Sleepers, an architectural gem that holds great significance in the area.

Exploring the Enchanting Citadel of Guermessa

The next step of our excursion takes us to the captivating village of Guermessa, known for its historic citadel. Originally built by the Jbaliya people, this fortified village served as a refuge and observation point against enemies. The citadel also housed collective granaries for storing crops. From its summit, guests can enjoy a magnificent panoramic view of the surrounding landscape.

The next destination on our itinerary is Medenine, a vibrant city that boasts a fascinating blend of the old and the new, with its modern urban center coexisting harmoniously with the ancient Ksar.

The Ksar in Medenine is part of a collection of Berber fortified granaries, which we will have the opportunity to explore throughout the day. These remarkable structures consist of interconnected chambers, known as alvéoles, where the Berbers ingeniously stored their food reserves. Stepping into these historic granaries offers a captivating glimpse into the resourcefulness and cultural heritage of the Berber people.

In addition to its architectural marvels, Medenine itself is a vibrant hub that pulsates with local life and cultural diversity. Visitors can immerse themselves in the lively markets, savor the flavors of traditional cuisine, and engage with the warm hospitality of the locals.

Ksar Hadada

Located south of Tataouine, Ksar Hadada showcases its one-story cereal granaries known as “ghorfas.” With its iconic rounded roofs and sturdy buttresses, this Berber architectural gem offers picturesque views from its terraces. It also gained fame as a filming location for “Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace,” serving as the slave quarters of Mos Espa. Ksar Hadada combines rich history and cinematic allure, making it an unforgettable stop on our journey.
