Day 1 – Fly to Tunis

Upon arrival, you will be met by our guide and transferred to your guesthouse in the picturesque village of Sidi Bou Said. As part of our personalized service, a special meet and greet session will be arranged at the guesthouse, where our experienced guide will meticulously explain the intricacies and highlights of your upcoming journey. Day 2 – Bardo– Medina – Carthage – Sidi Bou Said

Begin your day with a visit to the world-renowned Bardo Museum, home to one of the world’s most extensive collections of Roman mosaics. Afterward, we will explore the Medina of Tunis. Our guide will take you through the winding alleyways, bustling souks, and ancient buildings, providing insight into Tunisian history and culture. We’ll stop for lunch in a local restaurant before heading to Carthage, the ancient Phoenician city that once rivaled Rome. We will explore the ruins of the city, including the ancient baths, amphitheater, and port. Our final stop for the day will be the charming village of Sidi Bou Said, where you can join the locals for a refreshing cup of mint tea in Café des délices.

Day 3 – Tunis – Bulla Regia – Dougga – Le Kef

After a delicious breakfast, we will set off on an unforgettable journey to Bulla Regia, an ancient Roman city famous for its unique underground houses. We’ll explore the ruins and marvel at the intricate mosaics that have been preserved for centuries. Our journey continues to Dougga, a spectacular UNESCO World Heritage Site that is home to some of the most well-preserved Roman ruins in North Africa. Here, we will take a step back in time and walk among the ancient amphitheaters, temples, and baths that still stand tall. We’ll take a break for lunch and savor some of the region’s delicious cuisine before continuing on to Kef, where we’ll spend the night in a guest house,  Dinner will be served, and you’ll have the chance to reflect on the day’s adventures before a good night’s rest.

Day 4 – Sbeitla – Kairouan – Sousse

After a delicious breakfast, we’ll begin our day by exploring the ancient Roman city of Sbeitla, where we’ll marvel at the impressive ruins and learn about the city’s rich history. Our next stop will be Kairouan, one of the most important Islamic cities in the world and home to the Great Mosque, a stunning architectural masterpiece. After a flavorful lunch, we’ll visit the Aghlabid basins, an intricate system of waterworks that date back to the 9th century, and the mausoleum of the Barber, an important religious site. Our day will end in the coastal city of Sousse.

Day 5 – Sousse – El Jem – Mahdia – Sousse

Today’s program will take us through some of the most stunning Roman ruins in Tunisia, starting with a visit to the Roman amphitheater in El Jem, a UNESCO World Heritage Site and one of the largest amphitheaters in the world. We’ll then drive to Monastir to visit the Ribat, a fortified Islamic monastery and a prime example of Islamic architecture. After a delicious lunch, we’ll head back to Sousse to visit the Sousse Museum, which houses an impressive collection of Roman mosaics and artifacts. We’ll also explore the Ribat of Sousse and take some free time to stroll around the charming Medina.

Day 6 – Zaghouan – Uthina – Tunis

After breakfast, we’ll drive to Zaghouan, a peaceful town known for its olive groves and wheat fields. Our first stop will be the Temple of Water, which was built during the Roman period and supplied water to Carthage via an aqueduct system that spanned over 130 km. We’ll learn about the impressive engineering feats used to transport water to the ancient city, and explore the well-preserved ruins of the temple. Afterward, we’ll take a stroll through the charming Medina and enjoy a traditional Tunisian lunch in a local restaurant. In the afternoon, we’ll head to the Uthina archaeological site, where we’ll take a guided walk through the fascinating ruins of an ancient Roman city. We’ll see the impressive remains of the amphitheater, forum, and public baths, among other highlights. Finally, we’ll return to Tunis and check into our hotel for some well-deserved rest.

Day 7 – Departure from Tunis

After a week filled with unforgettable experiences, it’s time to say goodbye to Tunisia. We’ll transfer you to the airport for your departure flight

Medina of Tunis, Carthage & Sidi Bou Said

The medina of Tunis is a vibrant, labyrinthine district that is full of life and history. It is the historic heart of the city, and is home to some of Tunisia’s most iconic landmarks, such as the Zitouna Mosque. With its winding alleys, bustling souks, and striking architecture, the medina offers a fascinating glimpse into Tunisia’s past and present.

Just a short drive from the medina lies the picturesque village of Sidi Bou Said, which is known for its distinctive blue-and-white buildings and stunning sea views. This charming village has inspired artists and writers for centuries, including the famous Swiss painter Paul Klee, who lived in Sidi Bou Said during the early 1900s. The village is home to numerous art galleries, cafes, and shops.

Further afield is the ancient city of Carthage, a UNESCO World Heritage Site that is steeped in history and legend. According to ancient legend, Carthage was founded by the Phoenician queen Dido, who escaped from her homeland of Tyre and founded the city on the shores of modern-day Tunisia. Carthage was a major center of trade and culture, and played a pivotal role in the Punic Wars, with famous military leader Hannibal famously crossing the Alps with his elephants during the Second Punic War. Today, visitors can explore the remains of this once-great city, including its famous Roman amphitheater, ancient port, and stunning hilltop views.

Bulla Regia, Dougga & Kef

Located in the northwestern region of Tunisia, Dougga is a well-preserved ancient Roman city that offers visitors a glimpse into the country’s rich history. The city features stunning ruins that include an impressive theater, temples, and an arch that commemorates the victories of Emperor Septimius Severus. Dougga is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, and visitors can easily spend hours exploring the site’s many monuments and structures.

Just a short drive away from Dougga is the small town of Bullaregia, which is known for its beautiful natural surround. Visitors can also explore the town’s historic architecture, which includes traditional whitewashed buildings and winding streets.

Sbeitla, Kairouan & Sousse

The city’s stunning ruins include a large forum, temples, and public baths, as well as an impressive amphitheater that was capable of seating up to 5,000 spectators. El Jem & Mahdia

El Jem, located in the Mahdia Governorate of Tunisia, is an ancient city that flourished during the Roman era. Its most iconic landmark is the Roman amphitheater, often referred to as the “Colosseum of Tunisia.” This massive structure stands as a testament to the grandeur of Roman architecture and engineering. Visitors can marvel at its impressive architecture, explore the underground tunnels where gladiators prepared for battles, and even walk on the same arena floor where ancient spectacles unfolded. Mahdia is a vibrant coastal city nestled along the Mediterranean Sea. Zaghouane & Uthina

Zaghouane is a city in Tunisia that is known for its rich cultural heritage. One of the most important cultural sites in the city is the Temple of Water, which dates back to the Roman era. The temple is located at the foot of the Zaghouane mountain range and was built to honor the Roman god of water, Neptunus. The temple is renowned for its impressive architecture, which features a series of underground tunnels and canals that transport water from nearby sources to the temple’s central pool. The temple of water is not only a testament to the architectural achievements of the ancient Romans but also serves as a reminder of the importance of water management in the region.

In addition to the Temple of Water, Zaghouane is also famous for its aqueducts, which were used to transport water to the ancient city of Carthage. The aqueducts were built in the 2nd century AD and extended over a distance of more than 130 kilometers, making them one of the most impressive engineering feats of the ancient world. The aqueducts were constructed using a combination of underground tunnels and above-ground arches, which enabled water to flow from Zaghouane to Carthage through a series of canals and reservoirs. Today, the aqueducts serve as a reminder of the region’s ancient past and the important role that water management played in the development of the region’s culture and civilization.

Uthina, on the other hand, is an ancient Roman city with a rich history and a wealth of archaeological sites. The city was an important commercial and military center during the Roman era and has many well-preserved ruins, including a forum, a theater, a basilica, and a triumphal arch. Uthina is also home to a museum that showcases artifacts from the city’s Roman past, providing visitors with a fascinating glimpse into ancient life in Tunisia.
